As the former mayor of Tigard for six years, I worked closely with our surrounding communities and local leaders to ensure all our communities and cities were thriving together and supporting one another. That’s the way we do things around here—we work together, respect one another and engage in constructive dialogue that moves us forward.

However, voters of neighboring King City are being asked to recall several of their elected officials. Recalling elected officials should be rare and limited to situations where the official has committed an ethical or legal violation. That hasn’t happened here, so a recall is not warranted.

I served as Oregon State Representative from 2009-2021 and for years during that time, I had the immense pleasure of representing King City and the surrounding communities.

King City is unique and special in many ways, but one specific way it stands out is how much care, concern and consideration everyone has for their neighbors and community.

That’s one of the many reasons this recall campaign is so disappointing and why voters should firmly vote no in February.

OPINION: King City council represents best interests; vote no in recall

Please join me in voting no on the recall of several King City councilors and our mayor this February election.

Like many other residents of King City, I voted for this group of officials to represent me and our best interests and in my opinion, they have done their job.

I believe our volunteer, voter-elected King City leaders have been doing a great job enhancing our already-great community. They actively listen, care about what we have to say, and are visionaries in application of what we voice as needs.
